Making Space for Accessibility in a Listed Countryside Home

This single storey extension was designed to give the homeowners the accessible space they needed without losing the charm of their listed property. We worked closely with them to create a new bedroom and bathroom that’s fully DDA compliant, including ramped access and a layout that makes life easier day to day.

The extension opens out to the garden, bringing in lots of natural light and offering a calming view, which was really important to the client. To make sure the new part of the home sits comfortably alongside the original building, we used dark weatherboard cladding to gently mark the difference while still feeling connected.

It’s a great example of how you can adapt a historic home for modern life without compromising on character or comfort.
