Hucknall Central Walk
A renewed public realm for Hucknall town centre
24/Three is actively contributing to the regeneration of Hucknall, focusing on two streets adjacent to the pedestrianised high street. The project seeks to improve the quality, usability and character of these important connecting routes, strengthening their relationship with the wider town centre environment.
The proposals include new paving to create a cohesive visual connection with the existing public realm, alongside new planting, seating and gathering spaces designed to encourage activity and improve the everyday experience of the streets. A key element of the scheme involves the refurbishment of an open-ended covered arcade, including the removal of deteriorated roofing and the introduction of discreet pigeon-prevention measures. Collectively, the interventions aim to discourage anti-social behaviour while creating a safer, more welcoming and better connected public environment.
24/Three developed the concept proposals, supported community and stakeholder engagement, secured planning approval and produced tender information for delivery. The project is now on site and will play an important role in reshaping and revitalising this part of Hucknall.
“24/Three played an important role in helping shape the regeneration works within Hucknall town centre, delivering a well-considered design solution that responded positively to the existing urban environment. Their ability to manage and develop the project within programme requirements, while balancing practical considerations with placemaking objectives, ensured the proposals added meaningful value to the wider town centre improvements.”
