Through my lens: A journey through the landscape
My passion for photography goes beyond buildings, extending to the landscapes and thresholds that shape our experience of space. I’m drawn to capturing the subtle shifts in level, natural landmarks, and the viewpoints that define a place. I invite you to see the world through my lens, exploring diverse expressions of spatial quality – spaces not bound by walls but carved by nature itself.
This photographic collection showcases the breathtaking beauty of the Pico do Arieiro hike in Madeira, one of the island’s most iconic and demanding trails. Rising through rugged mountains and lush forests, the path unfolds dramatic vistas, sheer cliffs, and peaks that seem to float above the clouds.
Through these images, I aim to capture not only the raw natural grandeur of Madeira’s terrain but also the profound sense of awe and discovery it evokes. The route vividly demonstrates how level changes and pathways are dictated by the landscape itself, rather than by an architect’s hand.
A highlight of the collection is the Laurisilva Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its ancient ecosystem. Here, towering moss-draped trees and winding paths create an intricate, layered composition. This forest serves as a living example of how nature designs with as much complexity and beauty as any built form, reminding us that architecture is not confined to walls and roofs, but can be found in the landscapes we walk through.
