Our First 24/Three Team Sports Day
This week marked a first for 24/Three as our Newark and Northampton teams came together for our very first annual Sports Day.
The day began with a full team debrief before the serious business of team selection. Armed with colourful bandanas, and in some cases even bumblebee wings, we split into four fiercely competitive teams: Red, Yellow, Green and Blue.
One of the standout moments came before the games had even started. Each team made their grand entrance with their own walk-on song, with some taking things a little further than others. Blue Team certainly made an impression, arriving complete with a flare and water guns, setting the tone for a day that was full of energy, laughter and plenty of friendly rivalry.
From classic Sports Day races to a few more modern challenges, everyone got involved. The windy conditions had other ideas for some carefully planned tactics, helping Yellow and Blue edge ahead early on, while Red and Green put in impressive performances during the three-legged race and a fiercely contested game of boccia.
The scores stayed incredibly close throughout the day, which was a real credit to every team. In the end, Shane Davies' infamous '100m Dash' proved to be the deciding event. Every runner gave it everything, with special mentions going to James and Mark, whose performances earned valuable points for their teams when it mattered most.
After a well-earned BBQ lunch, it was time for the final results. Red Team finished fourth on 98 points after a brilliant effort throughout the day, while the bosses' Blue Team came third with 112 points, proving they may have peaked during their walk-on. Green Team followed closely behind on 116 points, leaving Yellow Team to take the overall win with an impressive 120 points.
Of course, the competition didn't stop there. The afternoon saw everyone head indoors for climbing and Nerf battles, taking on new challenges, encouraging one another and finishing the day exactly as it had started, with plenty of laughter and team spirit.
What made the day so memorable wasn't just the games or the final scores. It was seeing both offices come together, cheering each other on, celebrating every win and making memories as one team.
A huge thank you goes to our Operations Manager, Danni, for organising such a fantastic day, and to the YMCA Newark & Sherwood for being brilliant hosts and helping make the whole event one to remember.
Here's to making Sports Day a new 24/Three tradition.
