24/Three appointed as project architects for Greyfriars Plot 1
24/Three, ECF and West Northamptonshire Council collaborate on the first phase of the Greyfriars town centre regeneration project, aiming to achieve planning permission for circa 85 homes.
24/Three is pleased to announce its appointment as Project Architect for Greyfriars Plot 1, working in collaboration with ECF and West Northamptonshire Council.
Greyfriars represents West Northamptonshire’s most ambitious regeneration opportunity, set to deliver over 1,000 new homes alongside workspaces, commercial uses, cultural destinations and high-quality green public spaces. The development will create a vibrant, dynamic new town centre and neighbourhood for Northampton.
Plot 1 forms the first phase of the Greyfriars masterplan and builds upon the principles established by the masterplanners, Howells, setting an exemplary benchmark for the delivery of the new town centre. Located on the northern edge of the masterplan area, the site plays a crucial role in mediating between the proposed new development and the existing residential neighbourhood to the north, establishing a thoughtful transition between residential and commercial uses, and between the new and the existing townscape. The Greyfriars masterplan sets out principles that closely align with 24/Three’s commitment to delivering exceptional, sustainable housing.
24/Three brings a strong local perspective to the project, with an office based in the heart of Northampton. This appointment is particularly significant for the practice, offering the opportunity to help shape the future of their hometown. With extensive experience in translating masterplanning principles into built form, 24/Three has previously delivered contextually responsive, characterful places across the East Midlands and Cambridgeshire. The practice is excited to apply this expertise, drawing on the strengths of its diverse team, to a project on its own doorstep.
“We are excited to be working with ECF and to take the first step in delivering the Greyfriars masterplan together. As an evolving practice, it is particularly meaningful to apply our expertise within our hometown of Northampton. We look forward to contributing to the long-term vision for Greyfriars, which closely aligns with our values around placemaking, sustainability and wellbeing.”
